Strengthening NYC Pharmacy Workers
We want to hear from you!
Retail pharmacy workers are the backbone of our neighborhoods, yet you are increasingly being asked to juggle more than just the job. From the stress of navigating "cashier-less" checkouts, to the rising tension caused by locked-up goods, or low-staffing and scheduling issues, the daily reality of working at retail pharmacy chains like CVS, Duane Reade, Rite Aid and Walgreens, has become more volatile and workers face the brunt of customer frustration.
With the Retail Worker Safety Act (RWSA) now in effect, the Retail Action Project (RAP) is working to ensure that every retailer across New York City properly implements required safety protocols. In order to make workplaces safer, we’re working on a series of trainings and other ideas that will support pharmacy workers.
To best support you, we need to hear directly from you! Whether it's understaffing, a lack of security, recurring safety hazards, pay, or scheduling issues, your input is critical to holding these companies accountable. Can you fill out the survey below and let us know what things are like at your job? And, if you’re interested in connecting with a member of RAP to talk more about your working conditions, leave your contact info.Take our survey below now!
What Are Pharmacy Workers Fighting For in 2026?
Big corporate chains are causing real problems for workers across the country; including things like not having enough staff on shift, too much work for one person to do, and a lack of safety on the job. That’s why pharmacy workers across New York are standing up with the Retail Action Project to demand something better. Together, NYC pharmacy workers can win better pay and safer workplaces. This survey is your opportunity to speak up and tell us exactly what needs to change at your job.
What Is the Retail Action Project?
The Retail Action Project (RAP) is a member-led organization dedicated to building power for the people who keep New York City running. From high-end department stores to bargain chains, we represent the diversity of the retail workforce. We aren't just advocating for jobs; we are fighting for living wages, dignity, and career-sustaining standards.
Since our inception, RAP has helped thousands of low-wage workers reclaim millions of dollars in unpaid wages. We believe that when retail workers have a seat at the table, the entire labor movement grows stronger.
Our Vision: A retail industry where every worker is treated with respect, paid a family-sustaining wage, and provided the opportunity to lead.
