Holiday Action - Saturday, December 19th, 1-5pm, SoHo
The holiday shopping season is here! Retail workers are the backbone of the holiday shopping experience. At our Holiday Action, we will be using use creative means including costumes and subversive coupons to illuminate the issues affecting retail workers.

Rally in Queens - Sunday, December 20th, 11-12pm
"Queens Center Mall: A Poverty Wage Center"
Come join RAP allies as they release a new report detailing the impact of the low wages paid by some of the retailers in the heavily subsidized Queens Center Mall. The report is a joint effort by the Retail, Wholesale, and Department Store Union and Make the Road NY.
Meet at the corner of Woodhaven Blvd/59th Avenue and Queens Blvd near the front entrance of the mall.

The Retail Action Project (RAP) is an effort to build power for retail workers to challenge injustices in their workplaces and gain the wages, working conditions and respect they deserve.
RAP members are retail worker activists who work together to improve conditions in retail through direct action, workplace rights education, organizing, legal action and media outreach.
RAP works with community-based organization, unions, faith-based institutions, elected officials and individual volunteers. RAP is developing a base of worker and community support to advocate for better employment opportunities in retail.

Art committee - Common Threads Art Collective is a talented group of retail workers who are also artists: graphic designers, photographers, painters, videographers and other creative thinker who work on exciting events and projects that convey the lives of retail workers through art
Media team - learn how to talk to the media to get retail voices heard
Help with Issues at Work - counseling, advice and organizing assistance for workers having problems on the job and/or want to improve condiditons at work, learning your legal rights
Street Team - help RAP grow and learn the skills of organizing by volunteering or interning with RAP's street team

The Retail Action Project Video Team is recording video statements and interviews from retail workers. When we speak out, we create an opportunity for change.
You may be featured in the RAP documentary and/or the public video projections in “Retailing 14th Street”, our public art piece in the Art in Odd Places Festival in October. You also can make a confidential audio recording statement that will be used in other parts of “Retailing 14th Street.” Your statement will only be used with your signed permission.
If you can’t make the 11th, you can schedule an interview Friday, August 14th 3-5pm.
